A peep into the wonders of India
It is the natural wonders our country has. The jog falls in Karnataka is one of them.
The jog falls, also known as the Gersoppa falls are the highest waterfalls in India. Formed by the Sharavati River, these falls are in the Shimoga district of Karnataka.
The Sharavati rises in the Western Ghats, flows down nearly 275 meters over a steep cliff in four separate cascades called the `four R`S' -Raja ( or Horseshoe, The Roarer, the Rocket and the Rani (Dame Balance -white Lady).
The `Raja' is the most beautiful of these falls, leaping down into the pool below. Halfway down, the rough `Roare' meets the Raja, literally roaring its way it. The `Rocket' justifies its name fully by continually shooting out jets of foam, bursting like fireworks into showers of spray. The `Rani' glide are gracefully over the cliff in lace like cascades, an unforgettable sight.
