10 of the Weirdest Museums in the World

Welcome to the Strange and Bizarre!

Some museums are a bit out of the ordinary and might make you wonder why someone, anyone, would pay homage to certain items.

The Mustard Museum, Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin

As a mustard enthusiast, I was more than excited to run across this gem while on vacation in Wisconsin. The Mustard Museum has over 5,000 jars, bottles and tubes of mustard from all fifty states and over sixty countries. The museum also has a collection of antique mustard pots, tins, vintage advertisements and memorabilia. Museum staff can help you sample over 500 different types of mustard (including one made of chocolate), hot sauces, BBQ sauces and prepared horseradish. The museum's biggest event every year is National Mustard Day, which occurs the first Saturday of every August. Admission to The Mustard Museum is free and they are open from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. seven days a week, but are closed on New Year's Day, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Be sure to check their website or call before visiting - they are to be moving to Middleton, Wisconsin sometime this fall.

The Spam Museum, Austin, Minnesota

Relive the glory days of Spam in this 16,500 square foot facility with artifacts, history, vintage advertisements, Spam trivia, videos, and the role of Spam Classic in World War II. Admission to the Spam Museum is free and they are open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. They are closed New Year's Eve, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
