Poem: My Dinner Date

MY DINNER DATE
My son is off with his dad
and the dinner bell has chimed
I put on my favorite clothes
and prepared to be dined
by someone I love dearly
who's time I love to share
I found myself excited
about this date somewhere
The time arrived and off we went
we agreed on every choice
pleasant peaceful company
oh how I rejoice!
We have a standing arrangement
but can go out with no notice, too
we have gone out for many years
and it only gets better: it's true!
Now in case you're wondering
whom my date could be
I'll tell you it was one whom I adore
and that someone of value is ME!
I treasure time by myself
to rest and unwind
I love to find new things to do
and value my private time
Happiness comes from within
is what the sages say
and I agree it does indeed
truly work that way.
Do you enjoy your time with you?
Do you love the one you've become?
If you cannot cherish yourself
how can another one?
