Easy King Mackerel Recipes
King mackerel are a prized gamefish along warm southern saltwater coasts due to their fighting ability and the fact that they come right up to the beach. Both boat and pier anglers love to grapple with king mackerel, and there are many tournaments held this time of the year.
King mackerel are also a very tasty fish if prepared correctly. They can be steaked and grilled, as well as broiled, baked, and fried.
King's Ransom
4 king mackerel steaks
steak sauce
soy sauce
Worcestershire sauce
Chopped garlic
Cover fish in other ingredients and marinate refrigerated for about two hours. Grill on high for 12-15 minutes, flipping as needed. Serve with french fries, garlic bread and beer. Serves 4.
Fried King Mackerel Chunks
King mackerel, steaks or fillets cut into big chunks
Sweet buttermilk
Bisquick pancake mix
Oil for deep frying
Cut up as many king mackerel fillets as you want to serve. Soak in sweet buttermilk for about 4 hours. Roll in pancake mix until covered and deep fry quickly.
Grilled King Mackerel
King mackerel steak
BBQ sauce, your favorite to taste
Lemon slice
Two pats butter
Four dashes seafood seafood seasoning
Salt to taste
Coat steak with the BBQ sauce. Place in aluminum foil and dash on seasoning and salt. Put lemon slice and butter pats on top of steak, wrap in foil, and grill 22-25 minutes over hot coals. Make as many steaks as you have!
Baked King Mackerel with OJ
1 ½ king mackerel steaks
1 large orange
3 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons chopped parsley
salt and pepper
Place steaks in greased baking dish and sprinkle with slat and pepper. Cut orange into sections, drizzling all the juice over the mackerel. Dot the fish with butter. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-18 minutes or until fish is done. Sprinkle with parsley before serving.
Easiest Broiled King Mackerel Steaks
King mackerel steaks
lime juice
butter
salt and pepper
thin onion slices (as many as you have steaks)
Just coat your steaks with lime juice and salt and pepper. Dot each one with a pad of butter and an onion slice. Broil for 15 minutes.
