Prophets Are Profiting from Child Abuse

If you hear the word witch you may think of Salem Massachusetts in the 1600's but when I hear the word witch I think of the children of Esit Eket, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria that are being labeled as witches by false prophets now.

Some prophets charge a fee to deliver the child of the witch spirit and if that fee is not paid the child will be held until the fee is paid. When a deliverance is done by the prophet he mixes a toxic concoction and makes the child drink it and it is also poured into their eyes. They also beat and kill the poor child.

Some parents are unable to afford the fee for the deliverance so they abandon or cast the child out of their home. They also try to deliver the child themselves by beating, scalding, pouring acid, driving nails into the child's head and even kill them because they think that the child is the reason that they have no work, are poor or for any problem that they may be having.

The community strongly rejects these children because the don't want the child to cause them to have any troubles so they beat the children and try to kill them.

If the children are lucky they are found by Child's Right and Rehabilitation Network (CRARN) which is a charity organization with a firm belief in, and intent on safeguarding the rights of a child. It was founded in 2003 with a view to reducing the alarming rate of street and abandoned children and to ensure their rehabilitation, including other vulnerable children, particularly in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.
