Houston is a vibrant and lovely city that offers a wealth of attractions. It is a relatively cheap city to visit on a vacation. Here is a guide to help you keep a budget while on vacation in Houston, Texas.
1) Travel around Houston should be in a rental car if you cannot bring your own automobile. Every major car rental company is available in Houston. There are many wonderful deals if you shop around for an economy or hybrid car. Try Enterprise, Budget, Avis, and Hertz. Many companies offer wonderful mid week deals or they will give you seven days for the price of five. There are always deals going on with the car rental companies. It is nice to bring a GPS to use in Houston since the city is always changing and there is constant road work on many of the interstates. If you do not have a GPS then you will have to use regular old road maps and an atlas. Houston is well marked so you shouldn't have too much trouble getting around the city.
2) Food in Houston is not a problem. There are many affordable restaurants, cafes ,and fast food places. Anyone can maintain a food budget in in Houston.

I have personally stayed at this La Quinta and it is more then acceptable. The rates start at $52.00.
