The Benefits of Meeting New People
Even though we're living in a world were depression, stress, anxiety, and panic are affecting so many of us, it still seems that we can push through that to some extent to have at least one friend, one aquaintance, one person to turn to. Meeting new people has to be one of the most adventurous, exciting, and worthwhile things that you can do with your life. Endorphins fire off, adrenaline pumps up, you become excited and attentive.
When you go out somewhere and simply say hello to someone, it puts a faith into you that cannot be compared anywhere else. Most of the time you will make a persons day simply because you acknowledged them. You made them the center of the world for the .5 seconds that you told them 'Hello' and they had a chemical reaction that took place in less then a split second that startled them, confused them, then ultimately left a positive outlook that somebody noticed them.
One of my favorite things is to notice something detailed about a person and bring it to their attention. Telling them about how they look pretty today, how their hair looks nice, the clothes they are wearing make them look very beautiful, that they are skilled at their job or simply that they have a wonderful smile that lights up a day.
People love being noticed, and most of the time we are too caught up in our own little world to do anything but notice ourselves, think about ourselves, or be selfish with us. But there are TWO ways of being selfish, yes, I said it, two.
In one hand you can think about yourself constantly, not ever worrying about others and doing whatever is best for you without the concern of people. This is where selfish really comes into play, this is the Yin of it, the part that will tick people off, or make them feel inadaquete. Not listening to them, or thinking you're better.
