Pillow stuffing

The reason I am using pillow stuffing in place of a pre made pillow insert on these Vintage Feedsack Kitchen Towel Pillows is that I think it is best to use as much of your Vintage Feedsack Kitchen Towels, so you can see what they were. This will eliminate any scrap material from being leftover. You can alter this and cut the vintage kitchen towels if you want though!

Now, to also save your Vintage Feedsack Kitchen Towel material and get the most bang for your buck on this vintage craft project, try using a new reproduction fabric on the backs of the pillows. You can use your vintage material on the front, where everyone will see it.

Now, lay your Vintage Feedsack Kitchen Towel face up on the table.

Take your other fabric and cut it out to the same size.

Lay this secondary fabric face down on the Vintage Feedsack Kitchen Towel. Pin the fabric together on all four sides.

Now, sew around the pillow leaving a 3 to 5 inch opening on the bottom corner.

Turn your Vintage Feedsack Kitchen Towel Pillow inside out.

Iron the vintage pillow flat and take care to create crisp edges.

Now, use the pillow stuffing to fill your Vintage Feedsack Kitchen Towel Pillow to capacity. You will need a lot more stuffing than you would expect.

Now, once your Vintage Feedsack Kitchen Towel Pillow is filled, sew the small opening shut by hand.

You are finished!

Takeaways
  • Iron the vintage pillow flat and take care to create crisp edges.
  • Turn your Vintage Feedsack Kitchen Towel Pillow inside out.

Thanks - I live in NY, so I won't make it to Atlanta. I will try ebay and Target for sure though. I love the idea. I don't really need a picture. I actually wrote that because I had just read the shower curtain article and was trying to imagine what that would look like. I guess I should have written that comment on the other article - lol.

Let me know if you want me to email you a photo of my vintage feedsack kitchen towel. It is so cute I really do not mind sharing. It was my grandmother's.

You can look on ebay and find some for sure. To find reproduction ones check out Target. They have all kinds. Not sure where you are from but in Atlanta they have a monthly antique show called the Scotts Antique market and there is a great lady lady there who travels the world buying fabric. I think she would have some. Try ebay and flea markets for old ones. Target for new reproductions and maybe Bed Bath and Beyond. Sorry no photos, but they take time and no extra money for all the work. This one is not hard to picture though!

Where would I get these towels? This sounds like a great project that I could do. I love your craft articles, but wish you had pictures.
