Oscar Mayer foods and Jimmy Dean foods have always been known for their meats and both companies joined the convenience revolution when microwavable bacon hit stores. Oscar Meyers' Microwavable Bacon and Jimmy Deans Microwavable Bacon both hit store shelves and were immediate successes, who doesn't love nice crisp bacon, but yet who has the time to fry it up in the morning before a busy and strenuous commute to work, school, or wherever your going. Microwavable bacon was everyone's answer to having a nice breakfast that's ready in the blink of an eye, but with two huge companies, Oscar Mayer and Jimmy Dean, competing for your business who do you choose?

Taste is the number one thing you are going to look for in food obviously and microwavable bacon is no different. Oscar Mayer Microwavable Bacon tastes great, although it does leave something to be desired compared to regular fried bacon, but you have to sacrifice taste for convince sometimes. That being said, Oscar Mayer Microwavable Bacon is perfect for making a quick BLT, or placing it on any sandwich. Each piece is ready quick and in a matter of two minuets you could have a plate of delicious bacon ready for breakfast, or a variety of other uses.

Jimmy Dean Microwavable Bacon is quick and easy to fix just like Oscar Mayer's but lacks the taste that Oscar Mayer's Microwavable Bacon offers. Jimmy Dean Microwavable Bacon tends to be a bit on the salty side, and the way it is cured leaves bits of "grain" on the bacon. Even when you cook Jimmy Dean's bacon it just does not ever seem to taste right, like it has been too heavily pre-prepared before packaging. Jimmy Dean Microwavable Bacon still tastes fin on sandwiches and such, but it just can't compare to Oscar Mayer's product.

Both Oscar Mayer and Jimmy Dean's Microwavable Bacon are easy and quick to prepare, but you have to really watch them both for burning. If you leave either companies product in the microwave too long you'll soon have a mess on your hand with a mass of blackened and charred bacon.

I love bacon but hate the mess of cooking it. I have used the OM brand for making baked beans, yummy.
