BCS Rankings in Week 11 Same as Human Rankings
The BCS rankings in week 11 had no real surprises, since the BCS rankings of week 11 looked just like the human polls. The BCS rankings for week 11 looked just like the AP and USA TODAY in the top 6, for the most part. The only difference in the BCS rankings was that Alabama jumped back to No. 2 over Texas, unlike in the AP and USA TODAY. But the BCS rankings for week 11 kept Florida, Alabama and Texas in the top 3, followed in order by TCU , Cincinnati and Boise State.
The main action in the BCS rankings for week 11 came below the top 3, as the contenders behind Florida, Alabama and Texas got shaken up. With Iowa, Oregon and LSU losing, and Cincinnati and Boise State getting scared, the top positions below the big 3 were bound to change. And like in the AP and USA TODAY poll, TCU led the way.
TCU is the new No. 4 in the BCS rankings, and the team that will most benefit from a loss by the top 3. Though almost no one expects Florida, Alabama or Texas to lose this month, if one of them does, then TCU could possibly have a real shot for the national championship. The Horned Frogs have done this by blowing by the tough Mountain West, and beating BCS teams in non-conference play.
TCU jumps up the BCS rankings in week 11, right before their biggest test of the season. The Horned Frogs host Utah, a top 15 team and last year's BCS buster - with the ESPN Gameday crew coming to town as well. If TCU thumps Utah and finishes the year unbeaten, then they could finally break through the national championship glass ceiling with a little help. At the least, TCU goes into the BCS as the team no one wants to face.
But the BCS rankings for week 11 continue to put Florida, Alabama and TCU in a comfortable position. Behind them and TCU, Cincinnati is at No. 5, after nearly blowing a big lead to Connecticut. Boise State is sixth, and perhaps reduced to just playing for a BCS game - though they could benefit if TCU and Cincinnati lose tough contests this month. The rest of the BCS top 10 is out of reach for the national championship, with Georgia Tech at No. 7, followed by LSU, USC and Iowa.
