Seven Great Races in Northeast Georgia
For Runners, Joggers, and Walkers
Americans have been focusing more on health lately. There has been an increase in ads and commercials encouraging Americans to get outside and get active. One of the best ways to get active is moving across distances. By this I mean running, jogging, or walking. It's cheap and doesn't require any special equipment. It allows you to experience scenery in your area. Further, attending a local race can let you experience camaraderie and can also support great causes. For a small entry fee you get a t-shirt, contribute to a charity, and get to experience being active with people of all ages, races, genders, religions, and fitness levels. North Georgia has some exceptional runs that are worth participating in. There are enough races occurring in Georgia that you could do one every weekend if you wanted to. However, this will touch on ten favorites of varying lengths and varying skill levels.Challenged Child and Friends 5k & 1 mile Run/Walk
Gainesville, Georgia
February
The Challenged Child and Friends race supports children with developmental delays. It is put together by a non-profit group that wants nothing more than to help the developmentally disable prosper. This cause is one that is worth supporting. Aside from that, this run is in a gorgeous part of Gainesville. There is plenty of scenery to enjoy and the course offers enough of a challenge for the advanced runner, but is friendly enough for the walker to enjoy as well.
