Hilton Update: Paris Asks Fans for Help

Paris Hilton's MySpace Page Requests Signatures

Paris Hilton surprised the media by remaining quiet while exiting the courthouse at her hearing. Last week her mother, Kathy Hilton did all the talking. However, on Monday, the celebutante broke her silence using her MySpace page. In the ongoing legal battle, Paris Hilton has made a new plea. The heiress has posted a request to her fans on her MySpace page. The socialite posted a message which reads, "My friend Joshua started this petition, please help and sihn (sic) it. I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!"

The petition to which Hilton refers is a request to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Hilton wants California' s Governor to step in and pardon the recent 45 day jail sentence she received from Judge Michael Sauer in a Los Angeles Superior Court hearing last week. An official appeal has already been filed for the charges, violating her probation by driving with a suspended license.

Hilton posted a message on her MySpace page which reads, "I urge all fans and supporters and all that are outraged by injustice to sign this petition." As of Tuesday, more than 900 Hilton supporters had signed the petition. The growing list of names appeals to Governor Schwarzenegger, hoping he will grant Hilton's pardon because the socialite adds, "beauty and excitement to our otherwise mundane lives."

A pardon is the forgiveness of a crime and its repercussions. The state Governor has the authority to grant a pardon; however, pardons are granted when the accused individuals have exhibited they have paid their debt to society. Perhaps Hilton thinks the act of adding, "beauty and excitement to our otherwise mundane lives" of the public should prove her debt has been repaid. Hilton was recently photographed driving, a few days after her court hearing. There is mixed speculation about the status of her license.
