Betting on Week 10 in the NFL
In Week 2 of the NFL season I adopted a new method for making my picks against the spread. Since that time I've picked just selected games that fit my criteria and I've posted a 31-14 record.
Last week I went a painful 4-2 (if that's possible). I won on the Cardinals, Cowboys and Texans easily and squeaked out a Dolphins cover (by a half point). The Packers fell flat on their face and the painful Lions blew a 17-0 lead and Matthew Stafford sealed the deal with a pick-six with under a minute to go, meaning another Detroit loss, and me losing the bet. Thanks Matt!
My picks for Week 10:
Chicago (+3) vs. San Francisco
Both teams were bad last week. I'll pick the Bears to rebound in this one.
Not really thinking that the Mike Singletary facing his old team will get quite as much publicity as when Brett Favre did.
Denver (-3.5) vs. Washington
The Broncos have looked pretty hapless on offense the past couple weeks against Baltimore and Pittsburgh. But Washington has looked hapless against everyone this season. I'm not going to assume that Denver's pair of losses is going to send them in a complete downward spiral.
Dallas (-3) vs. Green Bay
Let me say it clearly, I really can't stand the Cowboys. But I definitely think they've been getting favorable lines from Vegas the past two weeks. And I think Aaron Rodgers just got sacked again. My goodness, get rid of the ball!
Philadelphia vs. San Diego (-2.5)
The Eagles are a tough team for me to really put my thumb on. The Chargers are pretty much a tough team for me to put my thumb on. Call it a hunch if you want. At least I've picked my first home team over the past two weeks.
Is there a more unimportant player that gets time on TV than Michael Vick? I didn't think so.
Baltimore (-10.5) vs. Cleveland
The Ravens were my preseason pick to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. I'm not feeling so hot about that selection right now (although my selection of the New Orleans sure looks nice!) but I definitely feel good against them against the Browns.
