At the MEN'S ROOM, Shane Keeton Mixes Style and Art into the Classic Men's Barber Shop
SHANE KEETON, barber extraordinaire, is Bucks County born and bred. A single father of 3 and owner-operator of THE MEN'S ROOM in Langhorne, PA., Shane's earliest memories are of cutting hair, a 7 year old kid barbering himself (and playmates) while growing up in Levittown, PA.After high school, Shane pursued his dream armed with a cosmetology license and a singular vision. Shane sharpened his scissors at a variety of salons in Bucks County, notably the Paul Mitchell salon HELLO, GORGEOUS, smack dab on fashionable Main Street in New Hope, PA, the highbrow arts enclave on the banks of the Delaware River across from Lambertville, NJ. It was there that Shane realized he wanted to do something that had never been done before: To fuse the upscale, arty environment of salon hairstyling with the downhome realness (and affordability) of a classic men's barbershop. THE MEN'S ROOM vision was bringing some of Main Street, New Hope to Main Street, USA.
There were a few twists and turns on the map before Shane arrived in downtown Langhorne, PA. Shane tried and tested his vision of an "artsy barbershop" in his hometown of Levittown, PA. Leaving his New Hope customers, Shane's sold everything he owned to open his first shop called "S Hair Studio" near Murphy's Bar and Larry's Bicycles in Levittown. Shane toughed out this location for 2 years, amassing a regular customer base while honing his business skills, and the overall concept of the "artisan barbershop" primarily for men.
