My Top Five Choices for Christmas Films

The following is my list for the top 10 Christmas movies of all time. Some of them are classics, and others are some that I just personally like, no doubt you will find some of your favorites listed here as well.

1. A Christmas Story. This was one of those movies that wasn't a hit when it first came out, however, A Christmas Story which it theaters in 1982 quickly became a cult classic. The story Chronicles the pre-Christmas struggles of Ralphie, a child in the 1950s who is hoping to get a BB gun for Christmas. Usually some channel on cable places movie 24 hours a day during Christmas week. No doubt if you're a fan of this film you can quote lines from this movie. If you haven't seen this film before, then I highly suggest you watch it as it is good family fun. You can even order a replica of the fabled "major award" which the father sets up on the table facing his front window in this movie.

2. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. No doubt you have seen this film on cable as well. It is considered by many to be the best of the three national lampoon vacation movies, starring Chevy Chase as the bumbling Clark W. Griswold. The film on cable is edited and suitable for family viewing, though the DVD version may not be suitable for small children. Who can forget Randy Quaid as the well meaning, but misguided, cousin Eddie.

3. Home Alone. Another classic film that you no doubt have seen. This film follows the misadventures of Kevin McCallister, as played by Mcaulay Culkin, as he successfully outwits two burglars were attempting to break into his home when he is left there by mistake when his family goes on a vacation. Like a Christmas Story, this film was not an immediate success when it first debuted in theaters, rather it was a sleeper hit that soon gained a large following.
