Every once in a while a company develops a product that is so far fetched, it bares investigation. When my significant other brought home an hour glass shaped chocolate toothpaste, I was not sure what to expect. It reminded me of other products that never should have existed: green toothpaste by Heinz, fruit flavored air in a can by a company called Big Ox, and New Coke. Let's face the facts: Somethings really should not be changed radically. Most people enjoy their ketchup red, their air free, and Coke...well...old and classic!

For the past three months I have been using Aquafresh Extreme Clean toothpaste and was delighted by how fresh my mouth felt afterward. The mint flavor lasts for hours beyond that of an ordinary toothpaste and, accompanied with Listerine mouthwash, can counteract a deadly arsenal of blue cheese salad dressing, garlic, onions, and whatever other offensive halitosis-based nightmare I can concoct. And trust me, when holding my girlfriend after a big dinner, a clean mouth is of tantamount importance. The price remains surprisingly affordable; it is approximately $3.49 for a 5.6 ounce tube. I have always sworn by Aquafresh due to its relatively cheap price, competent product, and above average quality. The fact that it is also approved by the American Dental Association acts as a metaphoric cherry on top.

Being the curious individual I am, I decided to temporarily shelve the Aquafresh and attempt a bizarre crossover; can a toothpaste actually clean your teeth properly and also taste good enough to eat? In reflection I need to point out that Fructodent succeeds in tasting unbelievably delicious...and this brings up a problem. Under no circumstance should this item be left out for a child. Store it safely under lock and key. I wanted to brush my teeth again and found myself ingesting it in spite of myself.
