Actor Nick Cannon Proposes to Supermodel Girlfriend

Last night (5/7), Cannon and Ebanks attended a gala at the Metropolitian Museum of Art in New York City.

It was once they were in Times Square that Cannon dropped to one knee as the question as Selita, will you marry me? appeared on the MTV jumbletron.

Her answer was yes as he then presented her with a 12-carat diamond engagement ring.

The newly engaged couple then attended an after party, where they were surrounded by family and close friends.

Cannon's career started as a regular performer on the Nickelodeon sketch comedy, "All That." In 2002, he starred in his own movie, "Drumline," with actors Orlando Jones, Zoe Saldana and radio personality, J. Anthony Brown.

In the following year, he played nerd turned popular guy, Alvin Johnson with then girlfriend, Christina Milian in the teen romantic comedy, "Love Don't Cost A Thing."

During the span of his acting career, he has worked with Hollywood greats such as, Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, Jennifer Lopez, Harry Belafonte, Laurence Fishburne, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Demi Moore, Sharon Stone and several others.

For three seasons, Cannon flexed his producing and directing skills, as well as his comedic improv skills for MTV's "Wild 'N' Out." He is currently doing a three-man job again for Nick Cannon Presents: "Short Circuitz," an urban version of MadTV.

As his film and television career continues to soar, his music career is not far behind. In December 2003, his self-titled rap album reached platinum status worldwide.

Later this year, Cannon will appear in the 1985 remake of the horror flick, "Day of the Dead."

Ebanks, a Cayman Islands native, was approached at age seventeen by a modeling scout at the Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey.

The 5-foot, 9 ½ inch model has appeared in print advertisements for Abercrombie & Fitch, American Eagle, Clinique, DKNY, Maybelline, Sprite, Target, Levis and Victoria's Secret.
