Sellers can dust off their unused and unwanted gift cards and trade them in for money or gift cards they will use. Buyers can find bargains where they can purchase gift cards at a savings of 10-50% off the face value.
Up until recently the only outlet to buy, sell and trade consumer gift cards was eBay. Consumers can still list their gift cards at eBay but they have restrictions. Sellers can only list gift cards under $500; they must physically have the gift card in their possession and can only list 1 gift card at time.
eBay charges a fee to list items of between $.30 cents to $4.80 depending on price of item listed. eBay also charges a closing fee after the item sells from 5.25 percent to 1.50 percent.
eBay is still a good place to buy and sell gift cards if the cards meet eBay's regulations. In order to sell your gift card sellers need to find buyers and eBay is by far much busier than any of the other sites. But some folks get overwhelmed with all the options on eBay and don't want the hassle of using an auction to sell their card or learning how to use eBay.
