The Amazing Minivan - Great for Road Trips

3
We have all been there. The great American road trip. You have spent months finding the perfect spot to stay and the best activities to fit all your families needs. Now however its T-Minus 2 days and you find yourself laying awake worrying about the 10 hour drive to reach your destination. Will the baby need to stop every hour to get out and eat? Will your 3 year old have to use the bathroom as much as he does at home? Will your 5 year old scream out every letter he sees on the road signs? These are all valid concerns! However, I would argue that one way to eliminate some of those harboring fears is to ride in kid friendly style.

Enter, the minivan. The minivan has long been the car of choice for many families. There has come a time in every woman's life that she has tackled the great debate: Drive for convenience or looks. Most women inevitably give in and allow their husband to drive the impractical souped up truck and they embrace the minivan. Is there really a question for trips that this would be the vehicle of choice? I think the features speak for themselves. The ever popular Chrysler Town and Country has dual DVD players and even offers Sirius TV. They also offer more cup holders than you can count and more space than you will likely use. The Honda Odyssey goes one step further with a removable 8th seat that can double as cup holders when folded down or even be removed completely. The 4.0 L engines have enough power that you likely won't even notice that you are driving down the road in a tank.

Another feature that SUVs can't compete with is the electric doors. When you are leaving that gift shop on vacation with full hands your kids can still get in the vehicle and you are free to unload all the goodies. They are low enough to the ground that most toddlers don't have a problem climbing in and getting in their seat. There is no danger of the door closing on them either because they are all equipped with safety features to guard against that.
