Best Thanksgiving (and Christmas) TV Specials for November 2009

Everyone knows that, when it comes to Thanksgiving TV, the big game is what most households will be watching. But if you also want some good 2009 Thanksgiving specials to watch, this is a look at the best Thanksgiving specials (and a few Christmas ones already!) that will be on during November 2009. From cartoons for the kids to ice skating and concerts, these 2009 Thanksgiving and Christmas TV specials will get you in the turkey-eating (and maybe even the Christmas) spirit so you can forget about those pesky holiday calories and annoying relatives (all times for these TV specials are Eastern):

November 17, 2009 NBC: Merry Madagascar (8:00 PM) - The first of the Thanksgiving TV specials on this list isn't really a Thanksgiving special at all; it's already about Christmas! The animals from the 'Madagascar' movie star in one of the first new Christmas specials of the holiday season and must save Christmas by delivering presents for Santa (he crashes on their island and ends up with amnesia). As much as I love my classic Christmas TV specials, the kids of today should appreciate this new one starring some of their favorite characters.

November 20, 2009 CMT: Larry the Cable Guy's Hula-palooza Christmas Luau (9:00 PM) - Everyone's favorite redneck comedian (sorry, Jeff Foxworthy) stars in another of the many Christmas-themed TV specials on this list. This Christmas variety show will also feature performances from other comedians like Caroline Rhea and Kenan Thompson, with musical performances by Billy Currington and the Zac Brown Band.

November 22, 2009 The History Channel: Home for the Holidays: The History of Thanksgiving (7:00 PM) - The History Channel's holiday TV specials are always great, because I love learning something new about why we celebrate the holidays the way we do. So get educated about why you stuff yourself with turkey and stuffing by watching one of the few actual TV specials about Thanksgiving on this list.
