Characteristics of a Serial Killer

A serial killer is someone who attacks and kills victims one by one in a series of incidents. They usually kill a minimum of 3 to 4 people.

Over 90% of serial killers are classified as white males. Most of them are between the ages of 25 to 34 years old.

Serial killers usually come from some sort of unstable family environment. Most of their family history shows either criminal, psychiatric or alcohol related problems.

Many serial killers hate their parents. They usually were abandoned by their father at an early age and were raised by an overbearing mother. Many serial killers were abused in some way when they were at a young age, most of the time by someone very close to them.

Early signs of psychiatric problems are also very common for serial killers. Very early on they also become interested in fetishism, voyeurism, or sadomasochistic pornography.

Many serial killers have had multiple suicide attempts.

Over 60% of serial killers have wet their bed until 12 years of age or older.

It is common for serial killers to do bad in school or have a hard time holding down a job.

Another thing that a lot of serial killers have in common is torturing small animals or having incidents involving fire.

Most serial killers are lower to middle class citizens and have high IQ's.

Serial killers usually have a charming or charismatic nature. Community members usually say they would have never second guessed them.
