The Golden Arches and the Home of the Whopper are icons of American. Where do you prefer to spend your money? Which tastes better or has better value for your money? Which is better for the tummy or appetite? That is a topic for hot debate, and not easily answered.

Both McDonalds and Burger King have been around it seems like forever and everyone has eaten at both restaurants. In my little town I have eaten more McDonalds simply because it's been here longer.

I interviewed 2 local teens about the differences on the two restaurants and hands down Burger King has better fries, while McDonalds has better burgers. The perfect meal said one is BK fries and a Big Mac. I say any larger meal for a teen is good. If you have a teen in your house you know they eat way more then most adults, especially teen boys.

My self I prefer McDonalds for all burgers, the fish as well as the fries. Burger king fries are to crunchy for me and I just dislike the flame broiled taste of the burgers. However I love the chicken sandwich with cheese!

The food

McDonald's has the big Mac, the filet of fish, the quarter pounder and the Mc Rib and hot apple pies, all are quite yummy. Burger King has the Whooper, the whaler and a Hershey sundae pie among their top sellers.

Both have value meals and 99 cent menus for those of us with little cash. However McDonalds goes above it all by offering fresh salads, wraps, fruit and carrots to their menu.

Both offer kids meals but its Burger King which has the bigger kid meals for the bigger kids.

Both chains serve breakfast, and both have some good items on them. I love the croissants at Burger king and the muffin sandwiches at McDonald's.

If you like flame broiled burgers the head out to Burger King tonight and grab a whopper, onion rings and a drink. Or you can head to McDonalds and grab a big Mac, fries and a large chocolate shake.

The History

The first Burger King was opened on December 4 1954 in Florida and was an instant hit. Today there are 11,200 burger king franchises thought 61 countries. That's a lot of whoppers which by the way have been around since 1957.

Takeaways
  • The first Burger King was opened on December 4 1954 in Florida
  • The first McDonald's was opened in 1940 in California.
Did You Know?
McDonalds gets more revenue per year estimated about 2,620 billion dollars a year than Burger King's impressive 270 million net revenue.

Good comparison. I love Burger King burgers. Way too many calories though, lol.
