When the weather turns from sunny and warm to sunny and just plain hot, most people shy away from slaving over a stove top preparing dinner. Not only does the stove make you hot it tends to raise the kitchen temperature to uncomfortable levels as well. Making tasty dishes without slaving in the kitchen can be simple as well as fun. Follow a few of these meal ideas to save yourself time and perspiration.

Your shopping list would include. Ground beef, beef sausage, hot dogs, asparagus, corn on the cob, and other grill-able vegetables such as yellow squash, zucchini, and mushrooms. The key to quick summer meals! Utilize your grill. This is a fun and simple way to to get a jump start on more than one meal at a time. A little bit of planning will go a long way. Thinking of dinner for tonight and tomorrow can become second nature. The meat lovers in the family will get a kick out of this. Pull out the hot dogs, hamburger patties and sausage. When you light those coals be prepared to cook all of your meats in one session. While the meats are grilling get those vegetables ready to go! Wrapping ears of corn in foil, placing mushrooms on skewers, and slicing squash or zucchini lengthwise will make them all easy to place directly on the grill. Season the veggies to taste and drizzle with olive oil while cooking. The corn should be perfect with just a touch of butter before serving. (White corn is distinctly sweeter than yellow corn when grilling.) The asparagus will be ready for grilling with just a quick trim of the ends. Cooking times will vary for the vegetables so be sure to watch them closely. The corn should take close to 20 minutes, asparagus will become tender quite quickly and should be turned occasionally.

Takeaways
  • Grilling can take the heat out of the kitchen.
  • Prepare for more than one meal at a time.
  • Look for simple solutions to stove top cooking.
