So far there has only been two other black contestants who have won the American Idol title: Fantasia Barrino and Ruben Studdard. The three ladies of season 6 are clearly power houses with their singing talents, and even though America has said goodbye to Lakisha, she will not be forgotten.
LaKisha had been singing since she was 5 years old, and her dream was to win American Idol for her daughter. She really had wanted to go all the way, but Wednesday night, Ryan had told her she should be proud about how far she had gotten. All Lakisha really wants to do is provide a good life for her daughter and herself.
Although her parents were proud of her singing abilities, it was her grandmother who pushed her singing the most. Her grandmother was the one who encouraged her to try for American Idol. Never in her dreams would she had believed she had come this far.
