Conservatives Fear the Worst
Apparently there has been an increase in private militia forces, Michigan included. According to the Southern Poverty Law Center there have been over 100 new militias started. Are these militias a threat? I think the Democrats would like you to think so.David Edwards and Daniel Tencior have posted an article titled "100 new militia groups since Obama elected; watchdog alarmed.
Mark Potok of the Southern Poverty Law Center says that "the truth is these groups have been springing up like mushrooms after a spring rain."
The Southern Poverty Law Center is a supposed "social-justice" group that tracks the rise of militias. I must ask whose "social-justice" are they interested in?
The story is tired one. An increase in militias is reported as some type of deep-running government resistance force developing to take over the country. Supposedly these people are somehow connected.
The same thing occurred when Clinton was in office.
The same thing will occur every time you have people in office who have little respect for individual rights.
Of course the way Obama is bowing all around the world I would be way more concerned about a take over from the outside than inside.
However the story continues that not only are these militias dangerous because they fear socialism but Obama because of course he is black. Did I miss something or isn't he half-white?
They greatest lie that is spread is that whites fear the fact they are becoming a lesser percentage of the United States' population. That is a hope of many people but it isn't quite here yet.
Let me ask you this?
What if there were a group of conservatives who were monitoring the activities of unions. Aren't unions essentially pro-Democratic? In fact who in this country has the "right" to monitor the actions of anyone unless they are illegal?
What is laughable is that Obama has dawdled with respect to Fort Hood and no one seems to keep tabs on Muslims like they do on these "terrible militias."
The people in the militias even say why they do what they do. They aren't preparing for "war." They want these silly people to note that they care about their rights.

The reason they don't name the "100 new militias" is they are afraid we would all go join them. :)
Seriously,
If the SPLC wasn't making up boogey men for fund raising purposes, they would really want to shine the light of day on them to keep people from joining the "evil" militias, unless they know they aren't really evil.

As usual, the SPLC makes a spurious claim and offers no evidence to support that claim.
If the SPLC has identified 100 new militias then why don't they simply identify them for the rest of us?
Why? because they don't exist. The SPLC takes tens of millions of donor dollars every year from well-meaning, mostly elderly donors. In order to keep the cash flowing in the SPLC has to maintain an on-going fear campaign.
This year it was militias, last year "racist skinheads" were going to take over, and the year before that the Klan was on the rise, yet again. Whatever it takes to scare the old folks out of a few more million donor dollars.
If they've identified 100 new militias then name them and give full addresses. It's that simple.
Just because the SPLC prints something in a public relations press release does NOT make it true.
