Hiking can be fun and great exercise. Hiking is a recreation that does not need a lot of equipment so it is economical. When you hike you get to go in the great outdoors and enjoy nature. You can take a hike on a designated trail or in a city. Hiking is something you can do just about anywhere but it is best on a nature trail. Going for hike is best done on a nice day but you can go for a hike on a rainy or cold day with the right clothing. Hiking can be done in the snow or in the summer.

When you are hiking you should be aware of the weather. It is a good idea to get a weather report before you go for a hike so you do not get caught in a situation you are not prepared for. Hiking in the mountains takes special attention to weather so you don't get caught in a storm. Weather is unpredictable but by catching a weather report you can get a good idea if hiking is ok to do.

Keep your eyes and ears open when you hike. One reason to go hiking is to get a good dose of nature. You want to soak in as much as you can. Listen for water falls. Water falls are peaceful to listen too. Listen to the wind as you hike along. The wind can talk to you. As you hike look and listen for the sounds of animals. Birds singing can be a wonderful musical sound. Other animals may make their appearance for you to see. Watch out for the prints of animals. Animal prints can tell you which way the animal was going, what kind of animal it was, and how long ago the animal walked by. The fresher the animal print is the more recent the animal walked by.

Keep the area you are hiking in clean. Never discard anything you bring with you. Don't litter. And don't hurt any plants. Never pick a flower let the flower stay where it grows so it can propagate and make more flowers in the future. Take a camera along on your hike and take a picture of the flowers you see. Pictures last longer anyway.

Hiking on a public trail can be fun but you must respect other hikers. Keep quiet and hopefully other hikers will keep quiet for you. Stay on the trail. Wandering off the designated trial disturbs the delicate vegetation. You can also get lost when you go off the designated trial.
