Although I am a stay at home mom, as well as a work at home mom, I also make extra money for my family by doing seasonal cleaning for local resort and cabin owners. Over the years, I have spent time and money experimenting with various products to determine not only which cleaners cost the least and work the best, but also those which are most pleasant to use. Two products which I have tried with differing success are 409 and Clorox with bleach.

Clorox With Bleach
I originally decided to try using Clorox With Bleach when I was trying to save some money on cleaning supplies. It had a name brand and was inexpensive (less than $2 for a bottle) so I decided to try it. I was very disappointed in this product. The first, and perhaps only, thing I noticed about the cleaner was the noxious odor it emitted. Yes, the bottle said it contained bleach, but I did not expect the smell to instantly fill the room after I had sprayed it a couple of times. At first I tried to ignore it, hoping that after I used it for a little while I would get used to the way it smelled and it would no longer bother me. However, the pervasive stench got increasingly stronger, to the point that I thought I might get sick from continued exposure to it. Even after I had been cleaning a cabin for two hours, I could still smell the Clorox with bleach I had used in the bathroom at the beginning of the job and I was concerned that the customers would complain.

How did it do the job? Clorox with bleach is an extremely strong cleanser. It will remove dirt and grime and eliminate odors (though the previous odors will be replaced by the pungent bleach smell). The problem comes when you have used it for a few minutes and can't stand it anymore. I highly suggest you use this cleaner only in well-ventilated areas, and for short periods of time. As with any cleaners and especially those with bleach, be sure to use gloves and cover your clothes as this product may leave bleach spots.

409
409 is a product that has been with me since the beginning of my cleaning days, and it has proven a reliable, effective cleaning agent.

409 is my pick for an every day all purpose cleaner.
