Paris Hilton became famous 5 or 6 years ago, famously for doing nothing really important. Although she dibbled in modeling along with her sister Nicky occasionally, Paris really rose to fame because of her famous last name and the fact that she parties all the time. Paris really blew up a few days before her reality show The Simple Life made its television debut in December 2003, when a sex tape she starred in was leaked to the public. Instead of Paris being shunned and falling out of the public eye it made her popularity soar, and when The Simple Life became insanely popular, spawning millions of girls around the country to say "That's hot," at the least hot moments.

The show introduced America to Nicole Richie who had been best friends with Paris since they were 2. Although she was much more interesting on the show than Paris with her funny and obnoxious comments, and her willingness to do whatever was on her mind. Yet Nicole didn't get much of the spotlight, and was overshadowed by Paris' star, and was only known as Paris' chubby friend with the tacky hair, who happened to be the daughter of Lionel Richie.

Because the Simple Life received such high ratings Fox decided to pick it up for a second season and then a third. When the Simple Life 3: Interns premiered in early 2005, Nicole revealed her new and improved self. She'd shed a few pounds, and traded in the trashy extensions, makeup and clothes, for a more glamorous pared down look thanks to stylist Rachel Zoe. She looked fantastic and suddenly Paris wasn't getting all of the attention, Nicole became a fashionistas and began to be featured in magazines for her beauty and style.

meh... I still lobe the show. But thats just me. I dont think anything was staged, I cant see how the 2 could keep separate for that long and not get "caught" during the 2 yr split. So I think the fall out was true.
