Taskcoach is a free "To Do List" software that you can use to organize your tasks. Let's take a look how you can create and schedule tasks in an intuitive task wizard.

Each task is broken down into these components:

1. The Description.

This description begins with a subject line. The subject line should be short. You can put something down like "Mow the lawn". You can also fill in a more detailed explanation of your task by typing things in the "description" box.

For example, you might have your subject line say "Organize the company's Thanksgiving dinner". Your description might have more information such as, "This party has to take place on the weekend of Thanksgiving week and 25 people are expected to attend. It should be casual and in an upbeat place."

You then decide what priority you'll give the task. The lower the number, the higher the priority.

2. The Dates

The next window you'll get for your task is the Dates/Reminder screen. Basically, you can set the start date, the due date, and the completion dates for your project. Also, you can set a computer reminder if you want to.

3. The Categories

If you haven't listed any categories in the category section of TaskCoach, this will be blank. Otherwise, you'll have a selection of categories to file your task under.

4. Budget

You can budget the length of time you'll give for the task. You can also list any revenue you may be receiving from it on an hourly or fixed fee basis.

5. Attachments

Like other good calendaring programs, you can add attachments to your task file. This can be very helpful when you need things all in one place. For example, if you're researching for a chapter of a book, you can attach all your relevant files in this section for easy reference.

6. Behavior.

This just lets you decide how you are going to list the task when your task's individual components are completed. You can either set it to your universal settings, or decide whether you want your task to appear finished.
