Where to Recycle Christmas Trees in Atlanta

Don't Toss Out Those Used Christmas Trees. Recycle!

Once the Christmas season is over, what do you do with the Christmas tree? Several places around the state of Georgia will accept your Christmas tree for recycling. Christmas trees are used for mulch and for the creation of fish habitats in lakes. None of the Christmas trees turned into the following locations are put in landfills. All trees are recycled. Most Home Depots also accept Christmas trees for recycling, but always call your local Home Depot before dropping off your Christmas tree to make certain that particular store is participating in the Christmas tree recycling program within your county or neighborhood. Christmas tree recycling services within specific counties are restricted to residents of that county only for tax purposes. Always call or check the website (where applicable) for more information to ensure there are no cancellations or schedule changes.

Sat., Jan. 9 (2010), 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Grant Park Conservancy, Atlanta, GA
Anyone can drop off a used Christmas tree at the annual Christmas Tree Recycling project on Sat., Jan. 9, at the Grant Park Conservancy in cooperation with Keep Georgia Beautiful, The Home Depot and WXIA Channel 11. Come to the park entrance at Park Avenue and Berne Street. This is one day only beginning at 9 a.m. until 4 pm. These trees are used within Grant Park itself. In years past, the trees have been used to create a berm on a hill to help prevent erosion. Grant Park is looking for volunteers to help with traffic control, handling seedlings and loading and unloading trees. Seedlings are available for $1 to those bringing in a tree. If you would like to volunteer, call 404-521-0938 or email info@gpconservancy.org.
