Tips on How to Make Extra Money for Christmas
This holiday season may be especially hard due to the economic breakdown. Paychecks and positions are downsized, the cost of living is going up, and gas prices are skyrocketing. But just because the economy is bad, doesn't mean our Christmas should be too. As we approach the holiday season, in addition to a regular paycheck, I've come up with some ways in order to make that extra cash for the holidays. It may not be a whole lot, but it does add up. And even if it doesn't make enough to buy Christmas gifts for everyone, at least the extra cash will buy the entire family a wonderful Christmas dinner.
Remember, one man's trash is another man's treasure. So sell that trash of yours! Look around the house and make a checklist of things you don't need. You will find that some items are are just sitting around collecting dust. Someone out there is bound to want that item. Just a few weeks ago, I sold my wine cooler on craigslist.com for a $150. When I bought my home, it came with a wine cooler. But since I don't drink wine, I decided to sell it. It was pretty much sitting there doing nothing. Here are a few venues to use when selling things.
1. Craigslist.com - This is one of my favorite places to sell. It's an online classified ads website that is free to use. Craigslist is a great venue because thousands of people use it on a daily basis. It targets your local areas where your ad could be seen area wide, allowing potential buyers to see your ad. When advertising with craigslist or any other classified ads column, you should use caution. Craigslist gives you the option to keep your personal information private. You do not need to include your phone number, address, or email address for everyone to see. They have a system where if the buyer wants to contact you, they will email a dummy address, but the email will actually be sent to you. When you make a transaction with someone, again use your own judgment and common sense. You can arrange to give the item to that person in public or offer to drop off an item along with some friends or family members; that way the buyer will never see where you live.
