Each morning you wake up, roll out of bed, and sluggishly head to the bathroom to prepare for the day. You glance in the mirror and notice that the flabby skin to your sides is protruding further away than the rest of your body. It's that dreaded fat around your oblique muscles, or as we know them, the love handles.

There are people who have large stomachs but are fortunate enough not to carry any extra skin to their sides which look like inflated bubbles. Then there are many of us (both male and female) who have been dealt with genetics that cause love handles to grow, and in many instances also include stretch marks (I know because I had them previously).

So this leaves you constantly looking for answers on how to get rid of love handles.

Well, if you're serious about losing them, then there is a solution.

Below are a few simple steps that will get you going on the right path to success.

* The first thing you will need to accomplish is to rid yourself of all the sugar-laden and high carbohydrate foods from your diet. You know the culprits...sodas, sweet pastries, muffins, and for those coffee drinkers, stop adding sugar and include sweeteners (Splenda) to your java.

Tip: STAY AWAY FROM THE VENDING MACHINE AT THE OFFICE!

* Next up is to boost your cardiovascular system with some exercise. Nothing fancy here as we're keeping it simple. Start off with a brisk walk 15 - 20 minutes a day, and gradually lengthen the time until you reach 1 hour or longer. Some examples could be to park your car a few minutes away from the office, take the stairs instead of the elevator or go for a walk on your break or lunch hour. This practice will instantly speed up your metabolism and after 3 - 4 weeks you'll begin to notice a change, although some might notice it sooner. Be consistent, keep it up and you're on your way to melting those nasty love handles away forever.

* If you don't mind a little extra work, then include some body weight exercises to your regiment. Adding sit-ups and side crunches along with some push-ups to your routine together along with the cardio and you're looking at a potent combo for success.
