"Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it." William Arthur Ward
In line with Thanksgiving, AC asked Contributors to convey our thoughts about what we may be most thankful for this year. I am always grateful for even the smallest blessing at any given time in life and this year is no
different. Here are just some of the fine things I am thankful for in 2009.
Business Turn Around - Buying American-Made
In 2008, the onset of the U.S. economic recession steam-rolled across New England and in our determined effort to keep our business afloat, my husband and I lost just about our entire life savings. Never ones to give up, though, we pushed on and stayed the course.
Because we have 16 demanding years invested in our business, we decided to ride out the slump in the economy. Things slowly turned around this year. Heading into the final phase of 2009, we are deeply thankful for the customers who bought American-made products, boosted the economy, even if just slightly and saved some jobs in the U.S. factory where our product is manufactured.
My Beautiful Grandchildren
I am not only thankful for the blessing of four grandchildren; I am deeply, honored to share my life journey with these remarkable children. The kids, who are 11, 9, 5 and 19 months, are the light at the end of a dark tunnel. Despite their true ages, they are light years ahead of their time and a group of extremely caring and sensitive little people.
Tristin (psychically gifted) is my first-born grandson turned little hippie, who recently discovered a hidden passion for writing, which I am thrilled to learn and share with him. Kayden is my dancer and you may just see him on Broadway someday. Chloe (also psychically gifted) is my only granddaughter and a fascinating, fun and adventuresome little girl.
Caleb is my sorry-I-can't-stop-moving-there-is-much-to-see grand baby and while his persona is still emerging, he is quite an old soul in my eyes. He also has the ultimate, kissable chubby cheeks! I give thanks daily for the privilege of having these children near me and I give thanks for the huge role they play in my everyday life.

Congrats on your business picking. We always try to buy American made, even if it costs a bit more. And a good husband and beautiful children and grandchildren are among the most important things in the world to be grateful for.

Oh, thank you so much, Cathy. I think I need to write one of these "giving thanks" articles. I wasn't planning on it, but now I want to! The quote at the beginning of your article says it all. :)
