With summer break approaching it's time to start thinking about ways to keep your child busy. It seems the older kids get the more they look forward to being out of school for summer, yet they get bored within two weeks! With age comes the need for more toys, clothes, bigger and more expensive items so why not help your preteen or teenager get a summer job. I find that kids between the ages of nine and fifteen can find plenty of summer jobs to keep them busy. I know what you are thinking. You're thinking that there is no way someone will hire your little one to work for them plus you really don't want to spend the whole summer taking them to and from a job. There's more to summer jobs then what you think. It's amazing at how many opportunities there are right in your own neighborhood!

For the past few months a group of nine year old boys have been riding their bikes around my neighborhood, with them they have a cooler full of frozen Kool-Aid cups. What a great and simple idea! To a grown up this may seem a little far fetch I mean really whose going to buy frozen Kool-Aid from some kids? Let me tell you these little boys are selling these cups of frozen Kool-Aid for a dollar and they are making a fortune! Simple and exciting for the kids is what I'm talking about when I tell you to find a summer job for your child. Not only are they making their own money but they are learning to be responsible. Let me give you a few more other ideas to get your child going on their summer job.

Dog Walking: Do you know how many dogs there are around your neighborhood. Most people don't have time to walk them while others really don't want to walk them. Animals need exercise and you'd be surprised at how many people would pay to have someone else walk their dog.

Dog or car Wash: This one is up to the kids but both are great ideas. Most kids would have better luck washing cars but I'm sure they would really enjoying trying to give a dog a bath also.

Hi I'm 12 and I am looking for a good summer job. I work well with kids and pets as well. The reason why I am looking for a job is because my mom is disabled and she doesnt work, so we don't all that much money. With the money I make from my summer jobs, I can add a bit more to my college account. I can babysitt for whatever price you are willing to pay, and same with pet sitting and dog walking. My email is cutiepup@kidsafemail.com. Thanks!!!

I am 23 years old, and I sell frozen cups of Kool-Aid out of my house. I sell 5 oz cups for $25. The kids actually love it. They are knocking on my windows all day long, sometimes they make 2 or 3 trips back in the same day, buying 3 to 6 cups at a time. Even tho the price is low you make quite a bit of money fast! When I was younger, I used to sell Water next to the higway exit/entrance ramp, and so did a newspapers salesmen. We started working together, and we sold water and newspaper together, you'd be suprised how much water you can sell on a hot summer day, I had to sometimes make two trips to the supermarket to reup. Thats the best thing to get your kid into. I sell the cups every summer, once my step son gets old enough to understand currency, I will also teach him how to produce, and sell the cups, so he can make a bit of money. Takes a bit of start up money, but it pays for itself after awhile.

I'm also verry very very very much in love with animals. So, if you would like a pet sitter, I'd be happy to accept the job.

Hey, I'm 12 (nearly 13) years old and looking for a summer job. I'm really good with kids since I have a little sister who definitely loves me. My math is extremely good. I'm in an advanced placement class for geometry. I've also gotten certificates of excellence and scholarships many years in a row (I went to private school last year). Contact me at dog.pal123@gmail.com if you would like a tutor

Ok look, I like these whole ideas and i wouldn't want to take those boys' ideas so i don't want to do that... But were i live, we can't use that much water so i really can't wash cars or water lawns...im a girl so i don't necisarily want to mow lawns! But i want a college degree for medical so those don't come cheap... i need to go ahead and start saving now! My parents have this thing to were if we want to be responsible and take on a job and put some in our savings, they say what ever we put in, they will match...so that just makes me want to put in more! and i would love to start that now because now i don't have anywhere else for the money to go so i will put it all in there... i have no bills in this part of my life so where else would the money go??? so if i put in 20 a month...i automaticaly have 40! im really interested in getting a job in this time of year at this time in my life! i have explained why in the previous... parents won't let me sit kids or walk dogs!
