When it Comes to Relationships, is Cinderella Just a Fairy Tale?

As little girls we grew up with fairy tale stories. From Cinderella, to Sleeping Beauty, to Snow White, we all fantasized about our prince charming. From our adolescent puppy love we believe that our first boyfriend will play that prince role. From experience when a woman meets a man she's interested in, there are many considerable questions that race trough her mind. Could he be the one? Will he be like the last one? Am I ready to put my heart on the line? Will he be my prince charming? As we grow to learn realistically what relationships and love really are the fairy tales begin to fade. We then realize it is exactly what it is, just a fairy tale. As much as we try to savor and hold on to love, what we haven't realized is that love has a mind of its own. Its like playing the lottery and you have one in a million chances of winning. You could be the lucky winner or not. Like they say you never know. When it comes to a relationship it seems that the more time that passes the more effort you have to put in. What you once had in the beginning you can never get back. From my understanding, that statement, though I thought I could prove wrong, is in most cases very much true. When romance and passion weakens we get scared working ten times as hard just to get him to notice you. In the beginning you used to be able to go to a restaurant and in a crowd of gorgeous and revealing woman to him the only one there was you. Now if your lucky maybe 1/3 of the time he acknowledges that you even exist.
In fairy tales they forget to show us the pain of love. There is no cheating, no other women, no jealousy, just happily ever after. There is no manual or a how to section when it comes to falling in love. So when the fairy tale ends up to be a tragedy should we still wait for our prince charming? My suggestion is to enter the fairy tale with the exception that it may end as a tragedy. Therefore when it isn't a happy ending and forever ends we could pick up the pieces of our broken hearts. Along with love comes heartache, disappointment, and tears, but we all go through it hoping that one day maybe just this once it will be our own fairy tale.
