Your father or grandfather may have told you a wonderful baseball story about a legend named Joe DiMaggio. Perhaps you witnessed the events unfold with your very eyes if you were living in the year of 1941. In this year, the Yankee ball player who was nicknamed 'Joltin Joe' made history by being the first baseball player to get a hit for 56 consecutive games. Even before this astounding record, Joe also had a 61 game consecutive hitting streak while playing for the San Francisco Seals. You may dream of 'Joltin Joe' and wonder how he ever could have performed such a baseball miracle. On the Major League Baseball's website, there is a contest running that is entitled, 'Beat the Streak.' By entering this fantasy baseball contest, perhaps you too could perform such a baseball miracle.

If you are a baseball fanatic and love competition, visit the site www.MLB.com. If you enter the baseball fantasy section of the website, you can click on 'Beat the Streak.' Here you will see all of rules to participate in this fun and exciting baseball challenge. The overall point of the contest is to choose a baseball player every day that you think will hit at least one ball safely in that game. Each day you can choose any player from the league. To win this contest, you must either be the first person registered with this site to beat the 56 consecutive DiMaggio famous streak, or if no one reaches that goal, be the person to make the longest streak throughout the baseball season. If you have a streak of 10 games, and then choose a player that doesn't get a hit, you will have to start back at square one. If you actually surpass the 56 consecutive games and win the contest, your prize is $100,000.00. If no one breaks the record and you are the person to get the most consecutive hits, your prize is $5,000.00.
