Wife Swap is a great television series. It is shown on ABC each week. The general focus of the show is two wives trade places, thus the name Wife Swap. They are usually from very, very different backgrounds. I have not seen a single episode that the wives were not also moms.

Wife Swap is a very good concept. Too often we take our lifestyles for granted. We think that how we run our household is good and the best way. Wife Swap really makes you stop and think. You see these families going through things. Because it's reality television you can even see some parts of your household in Wife Swap. It is a real eye opener.

The really neat thing about Wife Swap is that the families learn from each other. It is kind of funny at times see how stubborn they can be about not changing anything in their household. But by the end of the two weeks everyone usually caves in.

The show is also good about parenting. There are so many different ways to parent. Usually the wives are extreme on their parenting styles. The show gives them a chance to see a whole different style of parenting. The families can blend the two styles and both families end up better off from the two weeks together with the new wife.

I like too that Wife Swap helps the couples to grow closer to each other. When you're without your spouse for two weeks you can really begin to appreciate why you fell in love with them in the first place. Then if you have a new spouse to deal with it really opens your eyes. Maybe some of the things that irritated you about your wife or husband weren't really that bad after all. I think that Wife Swap encourages couples to grow closer to one another.

There are things you can learn from Wife Swap. When you watch the new rules you can think about your household. Would some of the changes being made on the show work for your family? Are there things that your spouse does that you don't truly show them appreciation? Are there better ways to discipline and to teach your children? If you think about the rule changes and why they are being made you can actually use them in your real life as well.
