Red, blue, yellow or green it doesn't matter. The term "green cleaning" means environmentally friendly. That means what you clean with doesn't mess up nature. You don't want cleaning items that will kill things or take forever to rot in a landfill. There are two green cleaning products available at your grocery store. These are lemons and oranges. There is a great deal of cleaning power in the citric acid in these. Some people even use lime depending on the scent that they want. You can literally mix lemon or orange juice with water and clean many, many things including grease!
Did you know that you can take one part lemon juice and 4 parts water and put in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 2 minutes. Let stand for 3 minutes. You can virtually wipe all the gook out of your microwave. Chili splatters, hamburger grease or whatever else is caked on the walls and ceiling. It is much better then harsh chemical cleaners.
Vinegar is a green cleaning product. You can combine it with lemon juice to get great cleaning done.
You can also use vinegar and baking soda together. The fizzing actions scrubs away mold, mildew, pet urine, stains and other nasty cleaning jobs.
You can deodorize your home with 1 part orange juice and 5 parts water in a spray bottle. You lightly spray in the air to get rid of pet odors, smoke, cooking smells and general yucky smells.
When you clean there is trash. Use paper bags from the grocery store to toss trash. It will be easier for the trash to rot in the landfill instead of using up oil to make plastic bags that take forever to go away.
Use recycled paper towels. If possible to really green clean means using rags. You can rinse them and when done wash them. It takes FEWER resources and less energy to wash three rags or washcloths then it does to make a roll of paper towels. You can usually clean with three rags what a whole roll of towels cleans. You can toss the rags in with your other wash. Not only is it green cleaning it is cheaper.
