With all the options open to today's brides, it's very possible to save money on wedding flowers if you're willing to do a bit of research and are creative. Nerves of steel won't hurt, either!Going Simple
This is a no-brainer. Decide just how important flowers are in the grand scheme of your big day, and see if there are any small ways you can work around that. Instead of that grand bouquet just dripping with various exotic blooms, consider scaling down a bit. Go with a nosegay, which is very sweet and much smaller (aka cheaper) than that gigantic bouquet. Or be dramatic and walk down the aisle with a single lily or rose. Think about going smaller with the bridesmaids as well. A few well-chosen flowers can make just as big an impact as many random ones. This applies for the centerpieces as well. You don't need to overwhelm your guests and besides, sometimes smaller is classier.
Silk Flowers
One very easy way to save money is to use silk flowers in place of real. Nowadays, many companies are making very realistic silk flowers so there's no need to worry about the flowers looking fake. However, if the idea of silk flowers sets off your "tacky" alarm, consider substituting just one or two kinds of flowers in your bouquets and boutonnieres instead of going completely silk. Hardly anyone will be close enough to tell the difference.
Do-It-Yourself
This is for that bride with nerves of steel.
Many brides are opting to buy their flowers wholesale from various companies advertising on the web. Several choices are:
