Some people do not take driving seriously. Driving is a privilege, not a right. You have to earn driving rights. Some people believe if their license is suspended or revoked, it is still alright to drive. It is not alright to drive. Your license suspended for a reason. They think it possible to drive to work or anywhere else they need to go. This should not be possible.

Look at Ms. Hilton, she thought it was alright to drive even though she got caught with a suspended license for a previous episode of driving recklessly. Famous people or not so famous, everyone should take this driving situation very serious. You can hurt a lot of people driving recklessly.

Why do you think people still drive with suspended licenses? I hear a lot of people say "I need to get back and forth to and from work". They can use public transportation. Public transportation is a great opportunity because you do not have to worry so much about the road or traffic. Probably your license was taken away because of poor driving.

If your license is suspended for any reason, abide by the law. If you don't, you may get a stiffer fine. You may get a monetary fines or jail time. I know you would not want to go to jail for driving with a suspended license. Do you want jail time? It is easier to catch a bus, train, or carpool then go to jail.

Did you know most people with suspended license because they do not have insurance for their car. Maybe you should think about the public transportation if you can not get insurance on your car. Wait until you save up to get the money for the insurance before starting to drive again. I know a lot of people will say, insurance is getting very expensive. Yes, we all know that, this saying goes for everything in our lives.

The legislation in each state needs to stiffen the penalty for people driving with suspended licenses. I know someone can come up with something. To do the crime, you must do the time.

Takeaways
  • Ms. Hilton
  • suspended license
  • stiffer fines

Well just got a notice today of my license being suspended for a speeding ticket while on provisional. Going 7 over on a highway with no traffic is not an offense that deserves suspension in my opinion but there's not a whole lot I can do. Was wondering if canceling my insurance is possible so I don't have to pay for a car that I can't drive.

DRIVING IS A RIGHT NOT A PRIVILEGE!!!! Read the court cases below. Court cases. CASE #1: "The use of the highway for the purpose of travel and transportation is not a mere privilege, but a common fundamental right of which the public and individuals cannot rightfully be deprived." Chicago Motor Coach v. Chicago, 169 NE 221. CASE #2: "The right of the citizen to travel upon the public highways and to transport his property thereon, either by carriage or by automobile, is not a mere privilege which a city may prohibit or permit at will, but a common law right which he has under the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." Thompson v. Smith, 154 SE 579. CASE #3: "The right to travel is a part of the liberty of which the citizen cannot be deprived without due process of law under the Fifth Amendment." Kent v. Dulles, 357 US 116, 125. CASE #4: "The right to travel is a well-established common right that does not owe its existence to the federal gover

DRIVING IS A RIGHT NOT A PRIVILEGE!!!! Read the court cases below. The idiot who wrote this article is a complete tool. Worst written piece of garbage on the net. Driving is not a privilege no matter what the government tells you. The RIGHT to travel ( which means the right to use roads and highways for their intended purpose which includes driving a motor vehicle) is guaranteed by the constitution and has been upheld many times in the courts. In layman's terms, The courts have ruled that the state (any state /government) can not require you to get a permit (license) to exercise what is already your constitutional right.. You don't need a piece of paper telling you you can drive, You already have the right to use your private property (car) on the roads and highways. Court cases. CASE #1: "The use of the highway for the purpose of travel and transportation is not a mere privilege, but a common fundamental right of which the public and individuals cannot rightfully

I find this article insulting. I got my license suspended and I am not a poor driver, I have money for insurance, and I pay my fines. I had 3 speeding tickets in a year , none of which were over 10 miles per hour, and I got my license suspended. My job is too teach under privelaged children how to snowboard. Puclic transportation to a mountain, does not exist at 5 in the morning. Don't compare us to Paris Hilton, jail time for us is not a publicity stunt.

next week I have a court date. I am going for being caught on a suspended license. Prior to that I am opening back a case up back on march 2007 I was fined for no insurance on a dealership car. I got proof from the dealer for insurance on my court date and the insurance was not suitable for the jude. So I got fined for the no insurance that time on the car fro the dealer. I called the dealer and that why I going through small claims now. But in the long run this has effected my driving situation more than it was. I was an hospital moving my friends car and was flagged for no front plate. Can I ask the judge can I somehow gather all my information about my license witha lawyer because I am going to resolve this issue but how can I if I go to jail

I know all about it, cost me 17K to get mine back, that no insurance is absolutly ridiculas fine, it's like legal extortion!! I know many people including my father who was stiffed by the insurance company after by broadsided by some idiot driver that I'm pretty sure is still driving around running into other people. If it has to be compulsary to have insurance then it should be law for them to HAVE TO pay if in an accident. All n' all, if there DUI, Wreckless driving or something serious that would cause immediate serious danger then the licence should be suspended at the very least. My license is pending suspension ATM because I drove by myself while I had G1 (Ontario) and it's funny because the cop insisted I was an inexperienced driver, that's funny I used to drive delivery covering 500-800 KM a night for 6 months of the year in the winter about 8 years ago before that little bit there that I explained at the top of my paragraph here ;p Most people don't drive that in the span o

yeah i'm going thru the same situation! i got 2 failure to appears! so i'm at the point to where i'm tired of paying these tickets and would rather do jail time! i got no wife or kids! so its not like i'm hurting or leaving anybody stranded! i'm just gonna deal with my problem by doing some jail time! and one of the tickets is 1200 for not fixing my tinted windows and no proof of insurance! now that ridiculous! so i'll probly be in jail for about 6 months! it just seems like the cops find anything to ruin ur life! I'd rather sit in jail than give them one dollar of my money!

Yeah, I think sending people to jail for not paying fines due to a suspended license, etc. is criminal. If driving is so suppose to be a privelege why is it a crime (misdemeanor) if you drive on a suspended license accept for reckless driving, DUI. Sounds like a double standard. Some people have financial hardships and stuff happens in life and they have to choose between paying a fine or putting food on the table or rent; and public transportation isn't available nor hitching a ride or car pooling. I'd rather see someone's wages garnished rather than throw them in jail. What does throwing them in jail solve? It only makes matters worse...guy looses job...looses home...looses car...can't put food on the table ...can't get another job in this economy. The taxpayers end up paying for the "now" prisoner's encarceration. I know a woman who recently got six months jail time for driving on a suspended license that had got caught for the second time. Is she a criminal?....no...was

Many times these suspended license issues are due to not paying fines. Seems like absolute absurd logic to penalize someones ability to get to and from work for not being able to pay a fine. No driving and you lose your job, so how then are you to pay a fine? Do not give the public transportation argument because this is not available to all people. I feel a suspension should only be related to poor diving, DUI, hit and run or insurance issues and not paying fines, child support or any other unrelated issue. Someone once told me, "I don't need a license to drive, I need a license if I get pulled over"!

this whole driving on a suspended is way out of control! cuz once ur in the system u cant get out without money,i work and pay bills like anybody else and now im treated like a crimanal, jail time its stupid its all the cops trying to make there quta, anyway its all about money.

I have a step-daughter whose father comes to pick her up and the guy does not have a drivers license. I have tried turning him in but his friend (who drove him) is the one that got caught. and even he only got a fine. There was no insurance, no license plates, and no drivers license. What is wrong with the cops these days...This guy wont stop driving just because of a fine. He needs a heftier punishment...or he wont stop. How many people are out there driving with nothing? They get into car accidents and then they dont have to pay for damage. Many people can get hurt and nothing will get done..

I feel your situation. My oldest Son is going through the same thing. You or your folks should try talking to the sheriff and see if he or she could talk to the judge. You may also want to hire a lawyer that deals with that type of thing. Your brother has absolutly got to stop driving, and I know how hard that can be. But, going to jail will be harder. Good Luck
