How to Control Anxiety Naturally
I have suffered from anxiety for well over a year now. I have tried prescription medication such as Ativan but I didn't like the tired feeling it gave me so I searched for natural ways to control my anxiety.
Anxiety is a condition where you feel worried and fearful often. I seem to have panic attacks in the afternoon. I am not sure why. My doctor tells me that anxiety is usually triggered by specific events, people, places, objects or situations. I also suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome from an ugly childhood so my anxiety is more than likely associated with that.
There are many symptoms of anxiety but the major ones are muscle tension, panic attacks, palpitations, difficulty breathing and tearfulness.
The best reason to use natural methods to control anxiety is because medications mask the symptoms instead of helping you on your road to recovery.
The first natural method is to make sure you have a well balanced diet. You need to include protein, vitamins, minerals, fresh fruit and vegetables. Also be sure to have a well balanced breakfast each morning because any fat you do eat has all day to burn off. Drinking plenty of water is also a good idea. Stay away from sugar, carbohydrates, caffeine and alcohol because they will increase your anxiety levels.
Exercise will help your anxiety symptoms greatly. I try to walk each day when the weather is nice because it helps control my anxiety.
Making time each day for relaxation is important for your mental health. Even if it is just 10 minutes to sit and do nothing at all. Instead of watching TV or playing video games, spend an hour doing meditation or yoga.
Don't try and do everything in one day. Make a list of all the things you need to do and cross them off as you complete the task. Trying to do it all at once will just stress you out and make you feel overwhelmed.
Make sure you get enough sleep each night to reduce anxiety. It is recommend that your try and get at least 7-8 hours of sleep. If you are too tired, you get more anxious.
