Want a quick picture frame project that's so easy a child can do it? Do you want the project to look beautiful and expensive, but cost very little? Well, that's not such a tall order after all. Make a quick trip to a craft or home improvement store, and you'll have everything you need to get started. Craft stores and other retailers have large selections of wooden or ceramic letters and numbers. Select some of the letters to make the new picture frame craft. You'll find letters that are already painted, ones that aren't, ones that are very thick, ones that are extremely thin - even ones that are done in brass.
You'll need to decide what you want the finished project to look like. It can be one frame, with one letter, or a set of frames, each containing one letter. Or, you can spell out a word with the letters, inside the frame, like "BABY" or "Home Sweet Home". The letters can be large - almost the size of the frame itself - or small, inside a larger frame.
When purchasing plain wooden letters, you have many options for decorating them. Use alphabet stickers and place a colorful, same-size sticker on each wooden shape, paint the letters, or even glue fabric onto the front of each letter.
Remove the glass from the frame. Choose a decorative piece of scrapbook paper, or even cloth, to use as the background for the lettering. Glue the paper or fabric to the backing of the frame. If the cardboard backing isn't as large as it should be, simply cut another piece of cardboard to use as the backing for the project.
When the fabric or paper is glued and dry you'll attach the wooden letters. Hot glue allows you to quickly attach the wooden or ceramic letters to the backing. Arrange the letters - or letter - inside the frame, mounting it to the backing, then just hang the picture on the wall.
There are many different arrangements you can make using the letters and picture frame. You can use your family monogram inside the frame, or spell the name of your teenager and hang in her room. Add silk flowers, small wooden shapes, or other notions to decorate the frame itself.
