This make-or-break week for the Top 12 dancers of So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD) Season 6 will end in heartbreak for two dancers and in celebrations for the remainders— the Top 10. After the votes are in from the American TV viewing audience tonight, three couples will death-drop into the bottom-three danger zone. Tomorrow night, each of the six jeopardized dancers will dance as if his life depends up on it. Based on their solos and on everything the judges know about the dancers, the judges will cut one girl and one guy.
Top honor goes to Ashleigh & Jakob! Each of their two performances erupted with the joy inherent in their partnership, captivating chemistry with each other, and extreme quality of dance. For all three judges, Ashleigh & Jakob were the couple of the night— a glorious climax ensuring the pair places in the Top 10.
The six couples danced two rounds, in the same order for each round. Round 1 went as follows—
1-1. Ellenore Scott, 19 (Jazz) & Ryan Di Lello, 28 (Latin Ballroom)
Ellenore & Ryan danced the Lindy Hop to 'I've Got to be a Rug Cutter' by Boiler Maker Jazz Band, choreographed by Carla Heiney, new to SYTYCD. They cut the rug in a non-stop Lindy Hop. Eleanor shone. Ryan, the sexy hunk, was as dependable a partner as ever for the many lifts and showed not one sign of having injured his back this week.
1-2. Kathryn McCormick, 18 (Contemporary) & Legacy Perez, 27 (B-Boy)
Kathryn & Legacy danced a Jazz routine to 'So Deep' by Hot Chip, choreographed by Sonya Tayeh. Kathryn looked different this week. She has gone from pretty to 'drop-dead gorgeous', as Mary put it. With Kathryn's tutelage in stretching, Legacy has become much more limber— showing in the B-Boy moves Sonya put in the routine. He did an incredible rapid crab walk— running on his hands with his body parallel to the floor. Nigel said this routine was his favorite of the season. But his opinion was to change later.
