After hearing about how well Spider-Man 3 did in its opening week, I decided to go see it. I saw the previous two, and enjoyed both of them. I had high hopes for number 3, but came out a little disappointed. Here's why:

First off, I found that most of the movie was forced to work together. In the beginning, Mary Jane and Peter are kissing on a web. All of the sudden a meteor just happens to land nearby. It breaks open and some black ooze comes out. When MJ and Peter leave, the ooze jumps on the back of the motorcycle and follows them home. This seemed like a very ridiculous way of getting this mysterious ooze into the movie. I'm not sure how, but I'm positive there's a better way of introducing it rather than a meteor randomly striking near them.

Later on, a murderer escapes from the local jail. When they first show him, he's in his orange jump suit running from the police. Weird thing is, there's only one police car chasing him. Now, if a murderer escapes from jail, you'd think that the police would do everything in their power to catch him. Unfortunately, this movie presents ONE police car following him. Later on, the same murderer is running again. This time it's a little more realistic with much more people chasing him. He gets to a fence and has to climb it. When he does so, he falls into a sand hole on the other side. It just so happens that the minute he falls into the hole, is the minute that scientists are doing some chemical testing on the hole. He gets trapped in, and gets chemicals into his blood stream. Now the murderer is Sandman. It seemed a little weird to me that he happened to fall into the pit at the exact time they were doing chemical research.

Closer to the end of the movie, another villain is introduced. Sandman has already been in fights with Spiderman, and Harry (the green goblin's son) is on the verge of good and evil. There are already two villains, and another gets introduced. Luckily it's a good one, as a newspaper photographer gets the mysterious ooze on him and becomes Venom. No complaint with Venom, just three villains was a little too much.

Sandman falling into the pit was certainly an odd coincidence. This was a big dissapointment, and I couldn't help but come in with bigger expectations. Great review!
