So what do you do if you are being stalked? Most states require that you tell the stalker you do not want contact and you would like to be left alone. This way if you chose to make a report to the police they have something to work with. After you have done that do not in anyway make contact with the stalker! Stalkers crave contact whether it is negative or positive. Often even if its negative contact they perceive it as positive.
Some thing to keep in mind; make sure that you log any contact. The log should include time, date and type of contact, where the contact was made and any possible witnesses. A digital camera of some sorts is helpful; for example if a gift is left on your car you can take a picture and you have physical proof. Letting your family members or close friends know what is going on is important too. Most often stalkers know who your family or friends are and will attempt to make some type of contact. Ask your family and friends to log any contact that they receive. Talking to your employer is a good idea as well and making sure that if anyone calls looking for any information regarding you that they don't give any! Most people often are very habit orientated; this can make stalking even easier. If possible try to switch up your schedule and your travel routes.
