Chargers Blackout Lifted for Sunday San Diego Chargers Game
A Blackout was Close to Happening to the San Diego Chargers This Weekend
The San Diego Chargers blackout has been lifted for Sunday's NFL game. The Chargers blackout was lifted because enough tickets had finally been sold to the San Diego Chargers vs. Kansas City Chiefs game that is scheduled to take place on Sunday afternoon. Earlier in the week it was questionable as to whether or not the Chargers would be able to sell enough tickets to avoid the blackout, and it even took an extension from the NFL to provide them with enough time to sell those tickets necessary for television coverage. Luckily for the fans that aren't able to attend the game, enough tickets were sold in time for the NFL to lift the Chargers blackout.Last week the San Diego Chargers took over first place in the AFC West by winning again and watching as the Denver Broncos lost their fourth straight game. It gave the Chargers their first week in first place during the 2009 NFL season, and gave the fans exactly what they have wanted for a number of seasons. It is very reminiscent of what happened at the end of the 2008 regular season, when the Broncos crumbled in the final weeks of the season, and blew a big divisional lead to the Chargers. The San Diego Chargers would end up winning the AFC West on the last game of the season and make it into the NFL Playoffs.
This season started off much like last year, with the Denver Broncos off to a really hot 6-0 start, and it looked like they would be contending for one of the first round byes in the AFC Playoff rounds. San Diego also started out cold, so they were separated in the standings by a few games coming into week 11 of the NFL season. A San Diego win coupled with another Denver Broncos loss gave the Chargers their first look at the top of the division, and it's something they look to continue coming into the 12th week of the NFL season. Denver already won their game that they played on Thanksgiving to push them to 7-4, and now the Chargers will need to match it on Sunday in order to stay one game ahead in the AFC West standings.
There will be no Chargers vs. Chiefs blackout after enough tickets were sold to the San Diego vs. Kansas City game.
