Wisconsin "Do Not Call List" Only Good for Telemarketers, Not Politicians or Not-For-Profit

Monday Last Day to Sign Up

Monday is the last day to sign up to be on the Wisconsin Do Not Call List. What is the Wisconsin Do Not Call List? The Wisconsin Do Not Call List is a list you can sign up to be on every two years to prevent telemarketers from calling you.

Channel 8 CBS WBKT.com has picked up an article from the Associated Press titled "Deadline to Sign Up for Do Not Call List is Monday in WI."

The number to call if you are interested is 1-866-966-2255.

That is the story or is it?

The list that you can sign up for allows you to avoid telemarketers. However what it will not let you avoid is something that has me shaking my head.

The Wisconsin Do Not Call List does not prevent politicians, political parties or not-for-profit organizations from waking you from your holiday slumber or having to tell them you do not want to answer their 42-minute survey as to whether you like Communists or Federalists more.

Anyone who thinks that people collecting money for non-profit organizations are always polite, have not talked to enough collectors.

Further, people who are trying to collect data for politicians can also be very pushy and they are just as annoying if not more so than people trying to sell you something. In fact, if buying certain products would assure me of getting certain people out of office I would buy them in a heartbeat.

So why aren't these preventative lists all-inclusive?

It is very simple. Politicians make the laws. Further they often get money from not-for-profit organizations.

I was shocked to find out that a Director of a local organization who requests money each month from me makes $275,000 per year. That should be illegal.

In fact I know that person and did say something to them. I was not rude but simply asked was it really possible to take that much money out of the operation of any organization and still provide an effective service or, how much more effective could it be if the money were added?

She was defensive of course but not without words. "My input makes a major difference."

Not as much as her "takeout" I'll wager.
