NWA Breaks Relationship with TNA Wrestling

The NWA and TNA Go Their Separate Ways

The five-year relationship between TNA (Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling) and the NWA (National Wrestling Alliance) is officially over with. In an online video linked at the official web site of the NWA, Executive Director Robert Trobich made the announcement. The decision will vacate the
NWA World Heavyweight Championship and the NWA World Tag Team Championships, previously held by Christian Cage and Team-3D respectively in TNA.

In news reports as far back as about three months ago, word leaked of the NWA's intentions of taking back their championships. According to Trobich, the NWA will hold a tournament featuring some of the best young pro wrestlers in the world to determine new champions. No official word has been given as to when or where such a tournament will take place. Unconfirmed reports have said the NWA World Heavyweight Championship tournament will be held over several weeks in different NWA territories.

TNA held its annual "Sacrifice" pay-per-view on Sunday night, the same day the announcement was made. On the show, no mention was made of the decision. However, with a confusing finish to the show, it appears the singles title will be held up and possibly vacated. TNA will likely introduce brand new titles on their weekly television show on Spike TV. Under the TNA banner, such NWA Champions have been crowned like Ken Shamrock, Ron Killings, Jeff Jarrett, AJ Styles, Abyss, Raven, Rhino, Sting and Christian Cage.

Ummm...........It was the other way around. TNA had gotten established enough that they didn;t need the NWA Titles any longer. WWF/E, WCW and ECW all did the same thing when they no longer needed the NWA Titles to add prestige to their organizations. For a "fan", you sure don't know your history.
