Kenmore Progressive with Direct Drive 35922 Versus Dyson DC14 Animal
With a newborn its extremely important that our carpet stays clean. However, our two year old and our two dogs actually do little to help in this mission. We seem to go through a cheaper vacuum every year. My goal in choosing my new vacuum cleaner was to choose one that will last us for several years but is decently priced. I decided to talk to family and friends and learn about their vacuum cleaners. I I decided that I liked the Kenmore Progressive with Direct Drive 35922 and the Dyson DC14 Animal the best. Now, I needed to decide between the two of them. I decided that the most important factors in picking my new vacuums would be noise, ease of handling, price, and cleaning abilities.
Since we like to try and vacuum, when the children are asleep it is important that the vacuum be quiet enough that the fan and radio in the children's room will block out the sound. The Kenmore Progressive with Direct Drive 35922 while somewhat noisy was actually able to pass this test. The Dyson DC14 Animal also passed this test but was a little louder.
Ease of use is also highly important with the amount of vacuuming done at home. We do not want to feel that we are getting a major workout ever time we vacuum. The Dyson DC14 Animal weighs in at 19 lbs, so it is not a light weight vacuum cleaner. It was also harder to push and navigate than what I would like. The Kenmore Progressive with Direct Drive 35922 weighs 21 lbs, so it is actually heavier than the Dyson DC14 Animal. I also felt that it was not the easiest vacuum cleaner, I've used. It was hard to carry around. Although neither one of these were impressive with ease of use, I would say that I preferred the Kenmore Progressive with Direct Drive 35922.
The easiest thing to compare is price. The Kenmore Progressive with Direct Drive 35922 costs 300 dollars. The Dyson DC14 Animal runs 550 dollars. So there is a large price difference between the two of them.
