Vintage Ribbon Candle Votives
You can use those great vintage ribbons you come across at flea markets to make super cool retro looking candle votives. These easy to make Vintage Ribbon Candle Votives can also be made using new ribbons if you want as well. Look for ribbon that feels vintage or looks vintage and you can
get the shabby chic look you want without having to walk through the flea market.
This Vintage Ribbon Candle Votive craft project is a great way to use up retro ribbon scraps, vintage ribbon scraps, and even new ribbon scraps to make a useful craft you can use for years.
To Make Vintage Ribbon Candle Votives You Will Need:
Glass cylinders
Lots of vintage ribbon
Hot glue gun
Scissors

The first step is to find an affordable glass cylinder for you candle votive base.
You can check out your grocery store, Michael's arts and Crafts, and even Wal Mart for affordable glass cylinders. You can also use glass drinking glasses.
Now, take your first piece of ribbon and wrap it around the glass cylinder. Mark where it reaches around and overlaps about ½ inch.
Now, cut your piece of ribbon so that it wraps around. Be sure to cut the ends with some pinking sheers or at an angle to create a neat edge.
You can also apply some No Fray to the edge of the ribbon if you are worried about this retro candle votive lasting.
Use this original ribbon as a guide to cut the rest of the ribbons. They should all overlap by ½ inch when wrapped around the glass cylinder.
Be sure to use a variety of vintage ribbons in a variety of colors and widths. You want to create a fun striped looking candle votive with lots to look at.
Now, plug in the hot glue gun.
Place small glob of glue on the end of the first vintage ribbon. Place it on the glass cylinder so that the ribbon lines up with the bottom edge.
Wrap the ribbon around and add another dot of glue to the other end and press over the ribbon where it was first attached.
Now, you will continue to add ribbons in this manner, but you have a few options.
